Cake Crazy

Hi Everyone,

So I wanted to try and make a card without using the Big Shot.  While I love the Big Shot and Thinlits and Framelits, sometimes you just want to do something a little simpler.  Or so I thought....I saw this card from Conni Richter and knew I had to try a version for myself.  However when I started I realized I needed quite a few stamp sets and ultimately I ended up using 7!!  I think that might be a new record for me.

The focus of the card is the Cake Crazy set from the Occasions 2017 Catalog.  I liked the set the first time I saw it but it wasn't until I started seeing samples and then actually used it for myself that I fell in love with it.  The pieces are made to be used together lending itself to great color combos and while it doesn't come with framelits, its really pretty easy to fussy cut.  And if you know me, you know I don't like to fussy cut :)

Hope you enjoy!

High Tide

Hi Everyone,

I'm back today with 2 cards for you.  Both use the same stamp set, High Tide, out of the new Occasions Catalog. While I really love this stamp set as I love the beach and lighthouses, its the sentiments in this set that really stand out to me. I love every single one of them and I love that they can be used with many different types of stamp sets.  I cased a sample right out of the catalog for the first sample and made my own on the second. In the second sample, its hard to see but I used the Seaside Emobssing Folder.  This is one of the folders that I think looks just as good on the back as it does on the front which lets you use it 2 ways.  Hope you enjoy!

Nailed It

Hi Everyone!

So it's been quite some time since I have been blogging... Sometimes life gets extra busy and you just need to cut something out.  But it is a new year and I have a new resolve to try and keep it going!  Stampin' Up released the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalog today and apparently it was so popular with everyone the site crashed!!! It was down for quite some time but now is back up and running.

I always get so excited for the start of a new catalog and this one is no exception.  While I love most of the catalog, no big surprise there, I think I'm most excited over the masculine sets they have.  I often find that making cards for men is much harder than making cards for women but with the sets in the new Occasions Catalog you will come up with plenty of ideas.

In the sample below I borrowed a technique from Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek.  Instead of going with the browns, I started with a piece of Smokey Slate and used more Smokey Slate ink along with Basic Gray.  I just loved how it came out but if you are planning on trying the technique you want to allow enough time for the cardstock to dry.  It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the new Hexagon Embossing Folder is fabulous!!!

Hope you enjoy looking at the new products!
