New Catalog

Brie with Apple, Cranberries & Almonds

They boys were off camping with the boy scouts this weekend, which left just us girls at home.  It always seems much easier cooking and planning for 3 than 5...  Friday night I just made this great appetizer for dinner and the girls loved it.  I hadn't made it in years and I really don't know why, it comes together very easily.

Ingredients:

1 cup chopped apples
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup dried cranberries
2 Tbls packed brown sugar
2 Tbls melted butter
1 round 16-17oz. Brie Cheese

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and coarsely chop apple. Combine apple, almonds, cranberries, brown sugar, and butter in a small bowl. Mix together.

Cut brie in half horizontally. Place one half – rind side down into baking dish. Spoon half of apple mixture onto bottom half of Brie – spreading evenly. Top with remaining half of Brie, rind side up. Spoon remaining apple mixture over top.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until cheese is soft and just begins to melt.

Serve with thinly sliced French bread.

Secret Garden

First of all - Happy Mother's Day!  This year I made presents for my Mom and Stepmother and will post pics later in the week so I won't spoil the surprise in case they check in here today. 

This is the last card we made from the May 3rd class.  It uses the Secret Garden set which has quickly become a favorite of mine.  It's so versatile and I love that it has matching framelits available.  It can be a little bit of a challenge getting them lined up but well worth the effort.  This set is being continued in the new catalog, but the great bundle discount is not so order soon if you are interested.

Organization

As most crafters and scrapbookers do - I keep every scrap of paper in hopes that I will use it again.  And just like most when I need a certain color, I drag out a new sheet and have a new pile of scraps.  Well I decided to get more organized with my scraps and went from this:

It did take a while to do, but I'm so happy now that its done!  I have 2 files sets but only took a picture of one.  Everything is so nicely sorted out by each color, it makes it so much easier to get ready for a class and cuts down on paper usage.  Those that know me well, will know that my Cherry Cobbler File is the biggest :)
